You + Me

When tasked with using patterned papers, I tend to fall off the CAS train. lol The challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays this week is to create a CAS masculine card using designer papers. I took some solid digital images of a mustache and lips, converted them to an outline in PSE, and printed them on patterned paper to cut out. Hop on over and give it a shot!

Sympathy Card

There is no card harder to make than a sympathy card. You want them to be perfect. To me, plain and simple always seems the best way to go. Sadly, I needed one this week. (see my prior post)

I used a die to cut the flowers from shimmery blue paper and embossed the sentiment. Then popped the entire layer up. Entering it in the CAS-ual Fridays Punchy challenge, to use punches or dies.

Cancer sucks!

Last Thursday was a sad day for us. We lost another friend to cancer. Mike was a kindhearted and generous man. He and his family always hosted the neighborhood 4th of July celebration and other spur of the moment get togethers. When my husband started working out of state, he would always come plow me out whenever it snowed. He was just one of those people that was always there to help in any way he could. His wife and teenaged daughter will miss him greatly, as will all the friends he's touched throughout the years. Rest In Peace Mike.

DYSU Challenge #72 - Landscape

It's time for another challenge at DYSU and this week we're asking you to Create A Landscape!  So, get your thinking caps on, and lets see your interpretation of landscapes!

We have 3 wonderful sponsors this week:

Copic Marker Scrapbooking 6 copic ciao marker (North/South America), Martha Stewart punch (rest of the world)

Pink Cat Studio Winner’s Choice of 5 Digis

The Ribbon Reel £10 Gift Voucher

For my first card I chose to make my hunting loving husband a Father's Day card and a bookmark to use for all his hunting related reading. Love using Divine Twine for these kind of projects. The manly man would balk at anything feminine. lol Our lovely sponsor, The Ribbon Reel, has a terrific assortment of Divine twine as well as a fantastic selection of ribbon. Go check it out here!

This card is definitely a hybrid. The background is a digital image and the rest is made from stamps, punches and dies. I love making scenes on cards so this challenge was fun for me!

Hope you'll join us this week at DYSU! I can't wait to see all your landscape cards!

Cheep Entertainment

I adore this cute pile-o-chicks digi image from Little Musings. And....it's a freebie! I feel that I've cheated on this card by using the pre-colored version, but I couldn't have colored it any better.

The challenge this week at CAS-ual Fridays was to use a bird in your CAS creation. I have a funny new chicken stamp I wanted to use but it's buried somewhere in the mess that I call my scrap room. Not. Kidding. Maybe I should get motivated to get my mess picked up? Hmmm...I need to think about that for a few more days. lol

Hop on over to CAS-ual Fridays and play along!

I was lucky to be able to use this beautiful Flower Buds stamp set from our sponsor Inspired Stamps. It was perfect for the technique I wanted to try this week. I saw this awesome tutorial written by JJ over at  Ribbon Girls and just had to give it a shot. The tutorial was great and I had a lot of fun with it. Hope she doesn't mind me casing her card!

I also wanted to use another flower from the Flower Buds stamp set so I created this card. It doesn't show up in this picture but I cut the flower into 3 layers to add dimension. What a versatile stamp set.

NSD fun

The stars aligned this weekend and I was able to spend quite a bit of time scrapping and card making for National Scrapbook day. Scrapjazz, the site where I basically got hooked on scrapping, hosted a few challenges and I had a great time playing along. I also got all my Mother's Day cards finished and a couple bday cards done. Here are my faves-

Happy Birthday CAS-ual Fridays!

One year of creating and inspiring fab CAS cards. I'd say that is something to celebrate! They have started their second year off with a bang-new DT members, More inspiration, prizes and a new challenge. Let's get the party started! The challenge is to make a birthday card. My husband has an upcoming birthday so I decided to use this digi image that I am totally in love with. I found it on Etsy here- 1950's Chevelle. I love it so much that it is currently gracing the header of my blog. lol

We can all use a stash of birthday cards to have on hand so hop on over to CAS-ual Fridays and join in the fun.

The inside says - "From one classic to another"
